What is Tax?
Tax is a compulsory financial charge imposed by the government on individuals and businesses to finance public services and national development.
Taxes are collected to support government activities such as education, healthcare, security, infrastructure development, and economic growth.

Types of Taxes
1. Direct Taxes
Direct taxes are paid directly by the taxpayer to the government.

2. Indirect Taxes
Indirect taxes are collected by businesses on behalf of the government.
- Value Added Tax (VAT)

- Tax Return: A declaration submitted to Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA).

Practical Example
A company earns a profit of 20,000,000 RWF during the year.
If the Corporate Income Tax rate is 28%, the company will pay:
20,000,000 × 28% = 5,600,000 RWF
